Tempris Wireless Temperature Sensors – New Generation

This article compares recently introduced Tempris sensor designs for freeze-drying applications with traditional thermocouples and the existing design. The wireless temperature sensors offer advantages such as sterilizability, real-time monitoring, and a slim design with an integrated thermo-sensitive area. Tests on a Lyostar 3 freeze dryer showed comparable performance across nucleation temperatures, temperature profiles during primary and secondary drying, and endpoint detection. The reduced sensor volume enhances liquid displacement, and the inclusion of a QR code facilitates automation and traceability. In summary, this research supports the suitability of the novel Tempris sensor designs for various freeze-drying scenarios.
