Tempris Wireless Temperature Sensors – New Generation

Initial Evaluation Tests

The article discusses the evaluation of two new Tempris sensor designs for freeze drying applications, comparing them with the current design and traditional thermocouples. These wireless temperature sensors offer advantages such as being passive, truly wireless, sterilizable, and enabling real-time monitoring. The latest sensor generation features a slim design with an integrated thermo-sensitive area. Testing involved prototypes of the new sensors, the current design, and thin wire thermocouples on a Lyostar 3 freeze dryer. The results demonstrate comparable performance in nucleation temperatures, temperature profiles during primary and secondary drying, and endpoint detection. The reduced sensor volume improves liquid displacement, and the integrated QR code enhances automation and traceability. Overall, the study affirms the suitability of the new Tempris sensor designs for diverse freeze drying applications, supporting the entire pharmaceutical product life cycle.

New Sensor Generation – Designed for Automation

Tempris technology has the potential to enhance the reliability and robustness of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, leading to timely access to quality medicines. The Tempris system is the Gold Standard for product temperature measurement in lyophilization.

The new generation of sensors is designed for complete automation in sterile drug production. A camera is used to capture the sensor’s QR code, enabling automatic recognition and traceability during the process.

This technology supports all types of primary packaging like vials, syringes, trays, and bulks, especially vials and syringes with low filling volume due to the optimization of geometry and size. The new design also focuses on implementing single-use concepts, depending on the customer’s application, such as cytostatics.

Visualization of Critical Positions

Introducing the new Tempris software application! With Tempris, you can easily visualize your measurement data in real-time and 3D in the digital twin of your freeze-dryer. This software allows you to identify the critical positions in your freeze-dryer. By identifying these positions early in the system qualification process (PQ runs), you can more efficiently determine measurement data. Tempris makes it easier than ever to visualize and analyze your measurement data. Which trains the users for better process understanding.

You can easily upgrade your current Tempris software with this application.

In-process control: Funkbasierter Echtzeit-Temperatursensor

You can’t manage what you can’t measure,” a notable saying by the influential management figure Peter F. Drucker.

In the realm of pharmaceutical production digitization, referred to as “Pharma 4.0,” the primary focus involves outfitting production facilities with sensors and establishing networks to monitor product quality and enhance operational processes.

Functioning as a Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tool, Tempris provides a solution for the non-intrusive real-time measurement of product temperature in powder granulators. This occurs during the rotation within the product, avoiding disruption to the granulation process and ensuring continuous control of the formulation.

Discover in this article how Hermes Pharma GmbH employs the wireless and battery-free Tempris PAT tool for real-time temperature monitoring in powder granulators, contributing to the attainment of operational excellence (OPEX).
